General questions
+ Do you deliver every photo you take?
No. For family lifestyle photography, I guarantee at least 75, high-quality images but take much more than 75. For conferences and events, the number of photos is a little less, and varies based on the conference and photography package, but the reason is the same. I eliminate test shots, duplicate images, shots that may miss focus, shots with bad expressions or blinking, and images that may dilute the overall product quality.
For example, some of the best, natural smiles occur after a laugh; however, laughing may not produce a flattering facial expression. Also, depending on my camera settings, I may take extra photos to ensure I nail the focus. Sometimes this produces a lot of duplicates. I take the time to analyze every photo in order to present you with the best ones.
+ Why do you guarantee so many images?
I guarantee at leat 75 images for family photos because I am not the best judge of what your favorite photos will be. I may capture 3 fantasic images that are similar, so I deliver all 3 to you becasue I don't want to make you pick your favorite and lose another one you love, just because it's similar, and as I said above, my favorite may not be your favorite.
+ How do you choose which images you deliver in my gallery?
I take the time to analyze every image we make in our session and I select the best images to edit and ultimately deliver to you. I am looking for the best images that represent your family and me as an artist. I guarantee at least 75 images but usually deliver more.
+ Do you do professional headshots?
Yes and no. I do not offer headshot photography as a standalone service and if you want professional headshots, I recommend you find a photographer the specializes in studio headshots. If you want a headshot that isn't a traditional studio shot and incorporates environmental aspects and natural light, I generally do include them in both family lifestyle photography sessions, as well as with conference and event sessions.
+ Do you shoot Raw or JPEG?
I generally shoot 12-bit Raw files. There are some situations where I will change that to a 14-bit Raw file. You won't be able to tell the difference. There are some situations where one file type is better than the other but they both produce amazing images and there is (for the most part) no loss of image quality shooting at 12-bit Raw. All delivered images are JPEG files.
+ Do you Photoshop your images?
I deliver a finished product. That does require the use of editing software like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop; however, I do not "Photoshop" an image to change the way someone looks. I may retouch out pimples or blemishes but for the most part, I think you're perfect the way I see you. I never want you to look "fake."
+ How long will it take for my photos to be delivered?
I say your photos will be delivered in about 4 weeks, to allow for editing. More often than not, I try to deliver your images quickly and you could receive your images sooner than 4 weeks. That being said, life happens. So, I ask that you give me 4 weeks to deliver your gallery.
+ What is your photography style?
I would catagorize my style as photojournalistic in nature while being heavily influenced by environmental portrature, urban landscape, with undertones of fine art photography. I've been told my seesions feel natural, sentimental, and organic.
All-in-all, a photographer develops their style over time and it evolves with their skills. The best way to judge if a photographer's style fits what you want is to examine their portfolio. You can view my portfolio here.
+ Where will we take photos?
I generally use natural light, and sometimes use an off-set fill light, so our sessions will almost always take place on location. We will choose the perfect location for you session together.
